Cement Production in Kyrgyzstan in Q1 2020 Down by 34.2 %

Kyrgyz enterprises reduced cement production in Q1 2020 by 34.2 % YoY, down to 230,600 tons. According to the National Statistics Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, just two out of three enterprises produced cement in 2020 — Aravan Cement Plant and Kant Cement Plant. South Kyrgyz Cement plant did not produce cement at all in 2020, as per the reports of the statistical department.

In January-March this year, Aravan Cement produced 143,000 tons of cement (down 43.5 % YoY), Kant Cement produced 87,600 tons of cement (down 2.7 % YoY).

The total design capacity of enterprises of the Kyrgyz Republic 3 million tons of cement per year. In 2019, Kyrgyzstan produced 2 million tons of cement (up 4 % YoY) with export being one of the main growth accelerators. Kyrgyzstan exported 610,000 tons of cement (up by 30 % YoY) in 2019, and Uzbekistan was a major importer accounting for over 90 % of the volume.
