The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) has supported the carbon capture and storage (CCS) project of Schwenk Latvia. As part of the project, the company plans to install a CCS system at its cement plant in Brocēni, which from 2032 will reduce CO₂ emissions by 0.8 million tonnes annually. This corresponds to around 7 % of Latvia’s total greenhouse gas emissions balance. Total investments in the project are expected to exceed 500 million EUR.
