Development prospects of the Russian cement market and its investment requirements

In spite of the development and world marketing of new construction materials, the annual growth in cement production is about 3%. In 2004 its overall production reached about 2.2 bin. t. It is predicted that by 2020 the level of cement production will be more than 3 bin. t, including 2.5 bin. t produced in the countries of Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Eastern Europe.
The largest international companies control about 45% of the world cement market, including at least 70% of the West European markets and 85% of the North American markets.
The significance of the size of a company in cement industry keeps growing, which is mainly due lo the necessity of capital concentration in this sector.
