Reducing NOx on existing cement lines

In cement lines, significant masses of NOx can be formed both in the rotary kilns and the precalciners. To reduce NOx formation, kiln burners applying Low NOx techniques can be used for the rotary kilns while low NOx combustion systems can be implemented on the existing precalciners. These techniques have the dual advantage of low CAPEX solutions and also have no additional operating cost. .
When these combustion techniques cannot reduce the NOx emissions, to desired level specified by local Pollution Control Boards ; some clever SNCR systems, using ammonia or urea, can be implemented in addition to the combustion techniques to bring down NOx in order to satisfy the most stringent emission levels specified by local emission regulatory authorities.
