Preventing and handling masonry efflorescence
The paper describes masonry salt efflorescence, occurring in the mortar joints, on bricks, concrete blocks, natural or artificial stone as a result of soluble salts leaching on the front side of the walls. The main problems associated with the efflorescence; factors contributing to its appearance; methods for identifying composition, cleaning and measures to prevent its occurrence are offered.Author: M.P.
