Lehigh Hanson, Inc., is pleased to announce that its Lehigh Cement plant in Union Bridge, Md., will fully transition from producing ordinary portland cement to EcoCem®PLC as its primary product by no later than January 2023. The Union Bridge plant is currently the company’s largest cement plant in North America.

Holcim signed an agreement with Ol-Trans, the leader in ready-mix concrete in the Gdansk-Sopot-Gdynia area, to acquire its five concrete plants. With 2022 estimated net sales of CHF 27 million, the transaction will strengthen Holcim’s local ready-mix concrete network and firmly establish it as the leader in Northern Poland.

Holcim has secured two investments from the European Union (EU) Innovation Fund for its breakthrough Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage projects in Germany and Poland. INSEE Cement has extended production of its Portland Composite Cement to its Ruhunu Cement Plant, increasing production of the new SLS 1697 product to meet the growing demand of the local market. Portland Composite Cement (PCC) is the result of years of research, and is a superior blended cement produced exclusively at the Puttalam integrated cement manufacturing facility earlier, to address the high carbon footprint of OPC cements, while also producing compressive strength equal to or beyond that of OPC at all ages.
