CEMEX REGENERA, CONCRETOS SUSTENTABLES and an engineering company have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the purpose of establishing a framework for cooperation aimed at developing innovative solutions for the sustainable management of construction and demolition waste in Mexico.

The World Cement Association has appointed Wei Rushan to be President of the Association, replacing Founding President, Song Zhiping, on his retirement last week.

The Rohrdorf group of companies intends to produce CO2 -neutral cement by 2038. In order for this goal to be achieved, the electricity supply must come from 100% renewable energies. In order to increase the pace of the switch to renewables and to achieve the highest possible degree of energy self-sufficiency, Rohrdorfer is pursuing ambitious expansion plans with the "Initiative 3033". By 2033, 30 % of the electricity required should be self-produced.

HeidelbergCement was awarded the German Innovation Award for Climate and Environment (IKU) in the category "Process Innovations for Climate Protection" for its innovative ReConcrete-360° concept. In ReConcrete-360°, demolished concrete is crushed using novel processes and selectively separated into its components: in addition to sand and gravel, hardened cement paste is also obtained in this way.

Thomas Schulz, FLSmidth’s Group CEO, has made the decision to take a role outside of the company, and will therefore step down as FLSmidth’s CEO by end of 2021.
