Ambuja Cements Plans to Add 30 MTPA of Cement Capacity by FY2030

India’s Ambuja Cements, part of the Adani Group, has announced a new expansion programme aimed at adding approximately 30 million tonnes per year (MTPA) of cement capacity across the country. The company plans to invest around INR 145 billion (Rs 14,500 crore) in greenfield and brownfield projects, taking its total cement capacity from 113.5 MTPA to 155 MTPA by FY2030.

The expansion will focus on the eastern, western and northern regions of India, with new grinding capacity planned in Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. The programme also includes additional clinker capacity: 4 MTPA at Umrangso in Assam, 4 MTPA at Maratha and 2.3 MTPA at Mundra.

The company is also completing projects already under development. In the first half of FY2027, it added 4.6 MTPA of cement capacity through expansions at Dahej and Kalamboli and the commissioning of the Salai Banwa grinding unit. A further 5.6 MTPA is expected to be commissioned or ramped up in the second half of FY2027, bringing total capacity to approximately 119 MTPA by March 2027.

According to Ambuja Cements, the expansion will strengthen its regional manufacturing network, bring production closer to key markets and reduce logistics and manufacturing costs. The company also aims to lower its production cost to INR 4,000 per tonne by FY2028.
