Implementation of Ramadi cement plant project begins in Iraq
The local government of Anbar Province announced the start of implementation of the Ramadi cement plant project. The facility will become the largest and first investment project for a cement plant wholly owned by the private sector, with a production capacity of one million tonnes per year.
Government spokesman Muayyad al-Dulaimi said that the project is among the most significant investment projects in the mining industry sector. According to him, the plant will provide at least five thousand jobs for residents of the province and will contribute to more efficient use of Anbar’s natural resources.
Al-Dulaimi noted that the project completion rate currently stands at 27–30 %. The facility uses modern German technologies, while the work is being carried out under the technical supervision of specialists from Switzerland.
A separate 26 MW power plant has been built to meet the cement plant’s electricity needs. It will allow the facility to be supplied with power without affecting the national electricity supply allocation for Anbar Province.
