Iran Exports 5,85 Million Tons of Cement in Five Months
In March-August 2020 (5M of Iranian calendar year, March 20 - August 21), Iran exported 5.85 million tons of cement. The export value amounted to US$ 127.99 million. Azerbaijan, Armenia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Qatar, China, Kuwait, Oman, Pakistan, Russia, Turkmenistan and Sri Lanka are among importers of the products.
Iran annually produces about 85 million tons of cement, and cement consumption in the domestic market is around 65 million tpa. Over the past year (March 20, 2019 - March 19, 2020), Iran exported US$ 7 billion worth of construction materials.
Industry and Trade Minister of Iran Jafar Sarkeini said that the volume of production of building materials in Iran is almost twice the demand.
In the coming years, Iran also plans to increase its cement production to 120 million tons per year.
