Iskitimcement completed the overhaul of chimneys

Iskitimcement (subsidiary of AO “HC “Sibcem”) has completed a program to restore the bearing capacity of the chimneys of rotary kilns.

The project for the repair of chimneys of Iskitimcement was developed in 2018 taking into account the production program of the plant and the operation of kilns.

The repair work was carried out by a specialized organization in stages over four years. The total cost amounted to over 25 million rubles.

As part of the program, specialists carried out a major overhaul of reinforced concrete chimneys of rotary kilns No. 6-7 and No. 8-9 which are 80 meters high. In particular, the fireclay brick lining was replaced with a monolithic reinforced one made of heat-resistant expanded clay concrete; reinforced concrete shafts on the tops of chimneys have been modernized, as well as protective caps, lightning protection elements and the upper links of walking ladders with fences. Installation of light barriers with the use of modern energy-saving lamps was carried out, anti-corrosion painting of metal structures, traffic light areas and walking ladders was performed. In addition, contractors have freshened up the red and white striped exterior markings with a special weather-resistant material.

“The high quality of the work performed will allow the chimneys to stay operational for 10-15 years - until the next repair will be carried out,” stated Vladimir Skakun, Managing Director of AO Iskitimcement.
