Mechel-Materialy’s Dispatches of Mineral Additives for Construction Sector up by 20 % YoY
Mechel-Materialy’s dispatches of ground slag in 4M2020 amounted to 83,700 tons, or up by 20 % YoY. Q1 2020 saw dispatches grow as much as 38 % YoY, up to 65,000 tons. The dispatches increased due to the start of the construction season.
“The mineral additive we produce is in great demand in the construction industry. The Chelyabinsk construction market is actively developing, meaning the demand is growing,” says Nikolai Parkhomchuk, General Director of Mechel-Materialy.
Ground slag is produced from waste supplied by Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant. Mechel produces the mineral additive using modern and eco-friendly equipment allowing for dust-filtering.
The use of ground slag allows to reduce the cost of mixed concrete, increase its strength, its frost resistance and waterproofing capacity, while improving surface quality.
Consumers of Chelyabinsk-made ground slag are concrete plants and large developers in many regions of Russia, from St. Petersburg to Abakan.
