Spanish Molins to install a CO₂ capture system
The project will install an industrial-scale CO₂ capture system at Molins’ cement plant in Sant Vicenç dels Horts, near Barcelona, with a capacity of around 1 million tonnes annually.
The system is expected to capture approximately 97 % of emissions associated with Portland and calcium aluminate clinker production, preventing up to 1.1 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year.
The initiative aims to advance cement-industry decarbonisation and establish CO₂ transport infrastructure that could also support other energy-intensive industries.
