Steppe Cement Reports Yearly Revenue Increase in 2020

Sales revenue of the Malaysian holding Steppe Cement, which owns cement enterprises in Kazakhstan, increased by 1 % YoY in January-December 2020 and amounted to KZT 30.96 billion. Cement production amounted to 1.64 million tonnes, which is 4.1 % lower than in 2019.

The average purchase price for a ton of cement in January-December 2020 was 6 % higher than in January-December 2019 and amounted to KZT 18,811, excluding VAT. The average ex-factory price per ton of cement for the same period was 15,760 tenge, which is 5.9 % higher than in 2019.

In 2020, the volume of cement consumption in Kazakhstan increased by 6 %, up to 9.4 million tons. The share of Steppe Cement in the country's market at the end of the year settled at 15.4 %. The volume of cement exported by the company over 12 months increased by 30 % YoY, up to 202,000 tons, accounting for about 10 % of the total cement export volume in the country.

In April 2020, it became known that Steppe Cement had formed a stock of clinker and capital stock to endure COVID-19 quarantine restrictions and maintain the full capacity of its plants.

The assets of Steppe Cement include the production lines of the Central Asia Cement and Karcement plants, which produced 995,100 and 720,600 tons of cement, respectively, in the 12 months of 2019.
