30 years high quality fly ash in South Africa
The fly ash industry in South Africa can look back at a long and successful history. This paper describes the beginning and the growth based on proper research and sound fly ash marketing. South African fly ash properties and the pozzolanic reaction are described. The contribution of fly ash to concrete durability is explained, including improved impermeability, sulfate resistance, chloride binding, prevention of ASR and reduced heat of hydration. A list of major fly ash reference structures, including some export projects ends off the paper.Author: R. Amtsbüchler, L. Madumo |
