Pozzolanic activity of aluminum hydroxides and their efficacy as inhibitors of alkali-silicate reactions
Amorphous and crystalline varieties of commercially produced aluminum hydroxide as alkali expansion inhibitors of Portland cement compositions were examined. It was found that at doses of 1—3 % of cement (by weight), the amorphous aluminum hydroxides of high pozzolanic activity are potent inhibitors of alkalisilicate reactions in Portland cement compositions. Crystalline varieties of Al(OH)3 as inhibitors of alkali silicate reactions are less efficient.Author: A.S. Brykov, A.V. Anisimova |
