Quick-drying cement-free castable refractories
Concretes with low cement content (LCC — Low Cement Castables) provide good performance when properly cast and heated. In a modern world of strife and competition, cement producers are constantly under pressure — after repairs the kiln must enter into operation as soon as possible. To avoid early refractory failure due to short drying time, Calderys developed a fundamentally new type of concrete — fast drying (QD — Quick Dry) and cement-free (NCC — No Cement Castables). With the new binding system a high initial permeability of the material is achieved, so these refractories can be heated twice as fast as the standard LCC. With an undisputed advantage in speed drying all their other quality and physical characteristics are at the same high level as those of conventional refractory materials, or even better than the standard ones. The positive effect of their use is established for the various sections of heating equipment, such as the kiln sill, burner, kiln hood, cooler.Author: M. Louen, V. Wagner, A. Klemba |
