Effect of different grades of cement particles on its properties

Particle size of cement powder is a key factor that affects the properties of cement. In this paper chemical and mineral compositions of narrow particle size fractions are investigated, and the strength of cement pastes of different specific surface area and narrow particle size fractions also tested. The results showed that the strength increase with increasing the specific surface area, and the particles sized 3—15 mcm make a great contribution to the 3-day strength, while the 16—30 mcm fraction plays a more important role for the 28-day strength. The reason is that finer powder contains more C3S and coarse powder contains more C2S.
