Influence of high-activity aluminum hydroxides on the hydration of Portland cement in the early period
Using thermogravimetric analysis and IR transmission spectroscopy the influence of highly disperse amorphous aluminium hydroxide on the hydration of Portland cement. It was found that the reduction of setting time of cement paste with the addition of Al(OH)3 is due to the rapid formation of ettringite from the additive. At the same time, when the content of aluminium hydroxide in the cement paste is 3 % or more, the hydration of cement clinker phases is blocked in the initial period (1 day).Author: A.S. Brykov, A.S.
