Factors influencing colour in white Portland cements

The paper interprets the colouring of white Portland cement from the viewpoint of its chemical and phase composition and the oxidation degree of iron present. This study of the interconnection between clinker optical properties and its composition was made on a model based on electronic structures of oxide systems. It was shown that, due to the presence of Fe3+ in white cement, colour effects can be reduced by introducing acid oxides.
