U.S. Cement Industry
Statistical data on the cement industry and the U.S. market for the first 9 months of 2010 and previous years, an analysis of factors influencing the consumption of cement, and a forecast to 2015 are presented. In 2005-2009 domestic consumption of cement dropped (from 2007 - sharply) together with its production (from 2008 -sharply). In 2009, according to the available estimates, the country produced 71.8 Mt of cement and 58.0 Mt of clinker. The share of imports in the domestic consumption decreased from 27% in 2006 to 8% in 2009. A weak growth in cement consumption is expected in 2010-2012, and a sustained growth – from 2013 on.Author: E. Sullivan, H.G. van Oss. |
