Financial crisis, cement industry and the Kyoto protocol
The article discusses the potential for introducing energy-efficiency measures in the Russian cement industry and their expediency under the conditions of the current financial crisis. It cites preliminary calculations of possible reduction of greenhouse-effect gas emissions for each particular measure and assesses potential incomes from sales of emission reductions within the framework of cooperation under the Kyoto protocol. It is shown that such incomes can play an essential role in co-funding investments or in attracting borrowings.Author: N.L. Korobova |
