Modern calciners offer many features for emission control

The article cites examples of calciner designs and describes the measures that ensure effective fuel combustion and a low level of gas emissions. To obtain the pre-determined parameters of exhaust gases, use is made of the method of fuel after-burning, a high-temperature after-burning mode of and a system providing for effective mixing of gases.
For burning various kinds of waste, use is made of a specially designed furnace ensuring a long fuel retention time.
To reduce the NOx content, it is suggested to introduce a nitrogen-containing material into the calcination zone (SNCR method).
