The sky’s the limit. Evolution in construction of high-rise buildings
The article is devoted to the improvement of technology of construction of high-rise concrete buildings in recent decades, mainly through the use of high-performance additives for concrete mixes. As a result the construction of skyscrapers migrated from steel structures to the predominance of reinforced concrete. A number of construction projects of taller and taller skyscrapers is described, that were made possible due to greater strength of concrete used in their construction, and opportunities for pumping the concrete mix up high with pumps.Author: P.-C.
