Optimization of multi-component cements containing cement clinker, slag, V-fly ash, limestone
The strength gain of four-component cements containing blast-furnace slag, fly ash and ground limestone was optimized, with clinker replacement equal to 50%. Optimization was carried out by changing the grain-size distribution of the components. A greater increase in the strength of cements containing 30% wt. slag (its maximum increase for cements cured for 28 days was 18%) than in the case of cements with 20% slag. Since production of fine slag using existing grinding/screening technologies is considered uneconomical, the used approach to optimization currently remains hypotheticalAuthor: M. Mueller, H.-M.
