The influence of particle-size distribution curve of sand on porosity and frost resistance of concrete

The results of studies of porosity and frost resistance of concrete made with CEM I 32,5 R and CEM III/A 32,5 N cements are published. The sand content in the concrete and the proportion of grains up to 0.125 mm were varied. The effect of particle-size distribution curve on porosity was established, particularly with varied content of the smallest particles of sand, the increase in which caused an increase in porosity, and in the case of concrete with CEM I cement - also in frost resistance. Differences in relative dynamic modulus of elasticity and the degree of damage to the concretes with CEM III cement, of different porosity, could not be found. This is probably due to the fact that their porosity was too low in principle
