Review of the cement industry in the Republic of Belarus

The cement industry of the Republic of Belarus managed to radically modernize and develop its capacities over the past 15 years. The development of the sub-sector went along several main lines.
1. Major investment projects have been carried out to modernize the organizations of the cement industry of the Republic of Belarus. Three modern high-tech lines for the dry process cement production were put into operation with a total annual capacity of 4.5 Mt of clinker and additive-free cement (5.4 Mt for cement with additives), which made it possible to take the issue of cement shortage in the domestic market of the country off the table, and increase the export potential of the sub-sector.
2. A radical structural reorganization of the cement industry took place with the merger of OAO Belarusian Cement Plant and OAO Krichevcement- noshifer into a single integrated structure of the State Enterprise Management Company of the BCC Holding Co., as well as affiliation of factories producing prefab concrete and reinforced concrete products and structures, cellular concrete and silicate products to the republican cement plants.
This set of measures has made it possible to achieve not only the economic sustainability of the plants, but also to introduce an active major player to the market that can provide integrated supplies of a wide range of construction materials in due time.
