Control of clinker burning if alternative fuels and raw materials are used

Alternative fuels and raw materials lead to new challenges in kiln operation. Volatile cycles require new approaches to understand chemical and mineralogical reactions in the kiln. Safe sampling tools like hot meal samplers give insight into the kiln process. A good understanding of the kiln requires besides plain chemistry also mineralogic analyses at each stage of the process. The article describes the main features of processes occurring in cement kiln systems using alternative fuel and raw materials.
