Analysis of concrete microstructure on cores taken from motorways.
The paper describes a way of testing concrete pavement structure conditions. Analyses are performed on cores taken from motorway pavements of different ages and conditions. It includes testing of micro-cracking, porosity, fulfilment of pores with products of different reactions, chemical analyses etc. It also contains detailed petrographic analyses of aggregates present in the studied samples. The equipment used for these analyses includes a scanning electron microscope, an energy dispersive X-ray analyser, and a polarizing petrography microscope. This way the current condition of concrete samples was evaluated and reported. The repeated measurements in different time periods can reveal changes in concrete conditions and its progress.Author: J. Stryk, J. Stulirova, A. Frybort, M. Gregerova |
