Cement Industry in the USA
In 2018, 73 of 122 cement kilns at U.S. companies were equipped with cyclone preheaters and calciners. Only 9 wet process kilns remained in the industry, while in the mid-1970s there were more than half of the total. The average specific energy consumption in 2018 decreased to 4.51 kJ/t of cement, of which 88% was heat generated during fuel combustion, and electricity accounted for only 12%. The trend to increase the number of modern high-performance production lines with cyclone preheaters and calciners continues in the industry. After the heavy decline of 2007-2009, when cement consumption in the country significantly lowered, in 2010 the growth of production resumed.Author: R. Bohan |
