Preparation for a Comprehensive Environmental Permit and Implementation of the Best Available Techniques at the Cement Plant in Novogurovsky Settlement
According to environmental legislation, by the end of 2024, all cement producers in Russia should switch to the best available technologies (BAT). The HeidelbergCement branch in Novogurovsky, a modern facility, is preparing to be among the first to bring production to full compliance with the BAT requirements. In this regard, in 2017, the plant launched a project to introduce a system of automated monitoring and control of pollutant emissions. It is planned to be put into operation in March 2020. In 2019, the company is among the first to prepare an application for a comprehensive environmental permit. In 2021, the plant will introduce a system of selective non-catalytic NOx reduction worth RUB100 million. It is expected that NOx emissions will be reduced by more than 45%.For more than 4 years, the company has been using various types of alternative fuels (AF) from wood and agricultural production wastes. Over the past time, more than 400 kt of such AF have been used, which prevented more than 2 million m3 of waste from getting to landfills.
HeidelbergCement pursues an open door policy, giving everyone an opportunity to make sure that new technologies and modern equipment can minimize the environmental impact of production.
