In-house analysis of the energy efficiency of production by cement manufacturers

The cement sector is operating in an overcapacity environment in many geographic regions including Russia and the several CIS states. This is part due to the rapid build up of new capacity over the past decade and in part due to the development of the global economic environment and reducing access to technology through larger capital projects, to improve the competitive position of building material producers such as cement and aggregates.

Energy Performance Analytics (EPAn), provides such a structurally sustainable, low cost value multiplier which relies on plant specific operational data and metrics to ensure a continuous improvement cycle for manufac- turing facilities in the mineral processing industry. Ap- plication of Energy Performance Analytics (EPAn) can be a self-performed, plant specific operational measure requiring “zero” capital allocation. Recent EPAn audits, with primary focus on electrical energy reduction, has resulted in a 10 % reduction of specific electrical energy consumption (SEEC) of material processing facilities as well as significant secondary benefits in terms of plant availability, specific thermal energy consumption (STEC) and production capacity.

Application of EPAn is plant specific focussed primarily on electrical energy consumption improvement, thermal energy consumption improvement, or a combination of both.
