Cement capacity expansion outlook for the CIS countries

The CIS countries are investing in new, modern and efficient cement plants. In the period 2017 to 2021 (1. Half) in total 27 new projects were contracted with a clinker capacity of 26.4 million tons and a cement capacity of 31.8 million tons. There are also 9 additional cement projects, identified to be commissioned by 2025. However, when compared to the rest of the world in the CIS countries there is not a large difference in clinker and cement capacity and fewer separate grinding plants are projected. This has to do with the clinker factor in cement and that the CIS countries are much behind with the clinker/cement ratio, when compared to the rest of the world.
