Development of compositions for cementation of liquid radioactive waste in large volume receptacles
Portland cement and blast furnace slag compositions for cementing medium and low activity liquid radioactive waste concentrates in large volume receptacles have been investigated. The possibility of cementation of both high-salt solutions and concentrated suspensions is shown. The chemical stability of the matrix materials has been determined. The obtained compounds correspond to the requirements of the regulatory documents according to this indicator, providing matrix filling by waste components up to 20 wt.%. It is shown that the use of metallurgical blast furnace slag either as an active additive or as the main binding component allows to obtain ce-ment compounds, the heat release of which during hardening is significantly lower than that of standard systems based on Portland cementAuthor: O.M.
