Real-time control of cement particle size distribution for reducing energy costs in cement production

This article provides information on Sympatec's laser diffraction particle size analyzers. The analytical system, which includes the HELOS particle size analyzer in combination with the RODOS dispersion module, is designed for quality control of cements and raw material mixtures in laboratory conditions, while the MYTOS inline particle size analyzer based on this system, combined with TWISTER or MIXER samplers, provides on-line grinding monitoring. Examples of HELOS and MYTOS applications are presented, allowing real-time monitoring of cement quality and energy savings during grinding.
