Cement industry in USA
The article presents the key indicators of the US cement industry. According to the esti-mates, in 2024 the country produced about 73 million tons of clinker and 86 million tons of cement, and imported approximately 24 million tons of cement. Cement manufacturers pay great attention to reducing CO2 emissions in their operations. Alternative fuels are widely used at the plants, natural gas consumption is growing, and the combustion of coal and petroleum coke is decreasing. From 2022 to 2024, the range of products manufac-tured changed significantly — the share of mixed cements increased sharply. The possibilities of using hydrogen and ammonia in cement plants as fuel and introducing CO2 capture technologies are under investigation.
