On the use of petroleum coke in cement plants
The article discusses the main features of the use of petroleum coke as a fuel in cement plants. Petroleum coke is an economical alternative to other types of fuel in cement production, but it has a number of features, in particular, low ash content and it is difficult to ignite. With a high sulfur content in petroleum coke, the tendency to scale formation in the inlet part of the furnace and in the heat exchanger increases, as well as to the formation of rings in the furnace. To counteract these phenomena, a number of measures are necessary, including control of the ratio of alkalis and sulfur in the feedstock and the fineness of the ground fuel.
