Digital design of tube mill lining
The status and development directions of largecapacity grinding equipment and technology are analyzed. Ball drum mills will remain the grinding machinery widely used in various industries in the foreseeable future. The lining of the inner surface of the mill drum significantly affects the grinding efficiency: mill productivity, specific energy consumption, quality of the finished product and operational reliability of the mill internals. Based on DEM modeling (Discrete Element Method), the kinetics of the movement of the grinding media and ground material in the cross section of the ball mill drum was calculated depending on the rotation frequency, loading factor, size of the grinding media and the ground material. Dependencies characterizing the kinetic, potential, total energy of the grinding bodies, their speeds of movement, and the impact energy at the moment of hitting the heel are obtained. An example of calculating an industrial model of a ball drum mill measuring 4 × 13.5 m is given. All calculations are carried out taking into account the design features of the lining. It is advisable to use the described method when designing the lining for the first chambers of the mill.
