Recent innovations in chemical admixture technology for high quality concrete

This article presents an overview of the modern technology regarding concrete admixtures and the current state of its development. It describes the main technologies as well as the gaps that exist in certain applications. Furthermore, it also highlights the benefits which can be achieved from PCE superplasticizers, strength enhancing admixtures, viscosity modifying agents and shrinkage reducing admixtures in high quality concrete. In addition, production and application of other admixtures including C-S-H-PCE nanocomposites as strength accelerators are reviewed. Finally, a forecast of possible developments and innovations in the future is given in the conclusion.
