Development and application of self-DeNOx calciner in cement pyro system

Against the backdrop of the global cement industry's pursuit of “dual carbon” goals and increasingly stringent environmental emission standards, traditional end-of-pipe treatment technologies (such as SCR/SNCR) are struggling to meet sustainable development needs due to their high investment and operational costs and issues of secondary pollution. Deep modifications based on the pyro system to achieve self-denitrification (abbreviated as “self-deNOx”) functionality within the cement production process have become a mainstream direction for technological development. This article systematically reviews the research progress of self-deNOx calciners, focusing on the working principles, key structural innovations, fuel staging strategies, refractory design and the integration of intelligent monitoring systems. Burners design, optimization of material and tertiary air inlets are the curial factors for De-NOx effect. A typical application in a Jiangshan cement plant of 7000 t/d capacity achieved efficient, low-cost nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction by the self-DeNOx calciner.
