CEMEX announced that it supplied 37,000 metric tons of cement for the construction of the Pelješac Bridge, one of the most significant infrastructure projects in Croatia in the past three decades. Nearly all the cement used in the project belonged to CEMEX’s Vertua family of lower carbon products.
CEMEX announced that it is working with the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to validate its 2050 net-zero CO2 roadmap and its 2030 decarbonization goals to align with their recently announced 1.5º c scenario. With this, CEMEX is committed to having the most ambitious decarbonization pathway in the building materials industry.

HeidelbergCement is further expanding its portfolio of large-scale CCUS projects with a new initiative in the United States. The project at the Mitchell, Indiana, cement plant of HeidelbergCement’s US subsidiary Lehigh Hanson, Inc. aims to capture 95% of the CO2 emissions from the newly renovated production facility and store them in a local onshore reservoir in the Illinois Basin.
