INSEE Cement has extended production of its Portland Composite Cement to its Ruhunu Cement Plant, increasing production of the new SLS 1697 product to meet the growing demand of the local market. Portland Composite Cement (PCC) is the result of years of research, and is a superior blended cement produced exclusively at the Puttalam integrated cement manufacturing facility earlier, to address the high carbon footprint of OPC cements, while also producing compressive strength equal to or beyond that of OPC at all ages.

Holcim has acquired Teko Mining Serbia, one of the country’s largest independent aggregates companies with estimated 2022 net sales of over EUR 20 million. A highly profitable company with substantial reserves, Teko Mining sells 2.4 million tons of aggregates per year.

Holcim acquired General Beton Romania S.R.L, a key national player in ready-mix concrete, with 2022 net sales (est.) of EUR 45 million.

Holcim has entered into an agreement to acquire Cantillana, a leading specialty building solutions provider based in Belgium with 2022 estimated net sales of EUR 80 million. Cantillana’s extensive experience in façade construction systems and external thermal insulation composite systems will further strengthen Holcim’s position in building renovation and energy efficiency solutions, building on the recent acquisitions of PRB Group in France, PTB-Compaktuna in Belgium and Izolbet in Poland.

Total cement despatches including domestic and exports during the fiscal year 2021-22 (FY22) clocked in at 52.89 million tons which is 7.91 percent lower than 57.43 million tons despatched during FY21, Profit learnt.
