The Armenian government has decided to lift the temporary ban on cement imports from third countries.
The restriction was introduced for a six-month period, from July 23, 2026, to January 23, 2027. At the same time, cement imports were subject to licensing requirements and a state duty of AMD 8,000 per tonne.
The government explained the decision to lift the ban by citing the situation on the domestic market. Due to logistical problems, imported cement became more expensive and delivery times increased. The restrictions affected the balance between supply and demand and created unequal conditions for the sale of cement. The government expects the removal of the ban to help rebalance the market and ensure sufficient supply.
Iran remains the main supplier of imported cement to Armenia. Following the lifting of the restrictions, cement can also be imported from other countries, including Georgia.
