Cement prices have risen sharply in Kamchatka

In Kamchatka the prices of building materials have soared. Cement prices in retail outlets in Kamchatka have gone up by 50 % or more in the last month. Back in August, a 40 kilogram bag of M-400 cement cost RUB 400 per kilogram at Kamchat–Cement. Then the price went up to RUB 450. In Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky stores M-500 cement made in the Maritime Territory (Primorsky Krai) in 50 kg bags costs now 700–780 rubles. Quite recently it was sold for 500 rubles.

According to Andrei Degodiev, minister of construction and housing policy of the Kamchatka region, "since the beginning of the year, according to his data, prices for different types of materials increased by 20–40 %, and in some cases the price growth was 100 % or more. At the federal level there is already a mechanism to account for price increases in the projects. Contractors, if necessary, will receive higher prices under government contracts. We plan to develop a similar mechanism at the regional level".
