China’s Conch Cement has initiated the review of a proposed acquisition of 100 % of the shares in TC Cement Company Limited, which is developing a cement production project in the Morogoro District of Tanzania.
Although the transaction has not yet been completed, Conch Cement has already begun preliminary work on the Morogoro project. According to tender documents, the project includes a clinker production line with a capacity of 5,000 tonnes per day, a cement production facility with an annual capacity of 2 million tonnes, an aggregates production facility with an annual capacity of 1 million tonnes, and an on-site power plant.
In March 2026, Tanzania’s Minister of Planning and Investment, Kitila Mkumbo, met with Conch Cement representatives during a visit to China. According to the ministry, the company views Tanzania as its primary base for entering the African market. The outcome of the transaction review has not yet been announced.
