Dalmia Bharat Ltd announced that its subsidiary, Dalmia Cement (North East) Ltd., has successfully begun commercial production at its newly expanded cement grinding unit in Lanka, located in the Hojai district of Assam.
The expansion increases the plant’s capacity by 2.4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), raising the company’s total cement manufacturing capacity to 49 MTPA, up from 46.6 MTPA previously.
The company stated in a regulatory filing that the new grinding capacity will further support the growing demand for cement in the northeastern region. As of now, Dalmia Bharat’s capacity utilization is at 60% on a pro-rata basis. With this expansion, the company is poised to strengthen its position in the market, serving more customers in the region.
The expansion project required an investment of ₹696 crore, which has been funded through a combination of equity, debt, and internal accruals.
The expansion in Assam is part of Dalmia Bharat’s continued growth strategy, focusing on both regional and national market presence. This new production capability will enable the company to better meet the rising infrastructure demands in the region, contributing to the overall development of the northeastern states.
