FLSmidth China Joins the World Cement Association

The Chinese subsidiary of FLSmidth & Co. A/S, the largest supplier of equipment and service solutions to the cement and mining industries, joins the World Cement Association (WCA), becoming one of the fifteen associate members of the organization.

“With FLSmidth, we welcome an important player in the global cement industry to our membership,” said Vincent Lefebvre, Chairman of the World Cement Association. “We share FLSmidth’s commitment to helping deliver sustainable solutions that reduce the environmental impact of cement production, and look forward to working closely with them and our international membership to raise standards in the cement industry around the globe.”

The company's vast experience allows its customers decrease production costs and harmful effects on the environment. FLSmidth expertise focuses on reducing the carbon footprint, reducing water consumption along with optimizing end-of-life recycling.

“As a leading contributor to cement production around the world, we share responsibility for driving the sector towards more sustainable productivity,” said Cyril Leung, Country Head of FLSmidth China. “We are inspired by the work already done by the WCA to seek collaborative approaches to some of the central environmental and technological issues and opportunities faced by our industry today, and we look forward to contributing to this global discussion as Associate Member going forward.”

For over a century, the Danish engineering company FLSmidth has been providing equipment and services to the cement and mining industries. In recent months, the company has entered into a number of important agreements, including a five-year agreement with one of the world's largest metals and mining corporations Rio Tinto.

Four major Asian cement holdings have also joined the WCA this year, including one of the largest cement producers in the world, the Sunnsy Group.
