Heidelberg Materials takes Final Investment Decision for CCS project in UK

Heidelberg Materials and the UK Government have reached a funding agreement to build the world’s first carbon capture facility that enables the fully-decarbonised production of cement at the Padeswood, UK, plant.

It will be operational by 2029.

The plant shall be equipped with an amine technology and absorber tower for the flue gases to capture 0.8 Mta of CO2, covering nearly all the site’s emissions.
