Heidelberg’s Padeswood CO₂ Capture and Storage Project Moves Toward Implementation

The carbon capture and storage (CCS) project at Heidelberg Materials’ Padeswood cement plant in North Wales is moving toward implementation. The facility will use carbon capture technology to capture around 0.8 Mt of CO₂ per year.

Construction is expected to start before 2026, with commissioning targeted for 2029. Key activities include infrastructure development, integration of the capture technology, and preparation for full operational rollout.
