The government has increased the CESS levied on imported cement with effect from 17th June.
Accordingly, the CESS levy on 1kg of artificially colored or uncolored cement has been increased from Rs. 3.00 to Rs. 5.00, the Investment Promotion Ministry stated.
In addition, the CESS of Rs. 5.00 for 1 kg of Portland cement imported in packages of 50 kg and less has been raised to Rs. 8.00.
Meanwhile, the CESS on other portland cement imported in packaging of over 50kg or bulk was raised from Rs. 3.00 to Rs. 5.00.
